AIDS PROJECT
For most, in the age of PrEP, AIDS fortunately no longer seems to have the relevance it once had. Yet, according to the United Nations, currently worldwide one person dies of AIDS-related causes every minute. For those of us lucky enough to have survived the epidemic of the late 80s and early 90s, AIDS never loses its relevance. We are haunted by the sheer number of deaths we witnessed and mourned, and from that, the sadness of never knowing what could have been. The amount of beauty that was never allowed to form and take shape, forever lost to this world.
Part of our mission at SEBASTIAN+MELMOTH is to publish the works of artists who we feel deserve recognition. We also want to publish the works of artists who never had the chance to have their work seen.
To submit the work of an artist you know who died from AIDS-related complications, use the Submit Artist Form here. Please include 15-20 images, a short bio of the artist, how the work can be accessed, and relevant contact information. We want to continue to remember those who suffered and died as a result of the AIDS epidemic by allowing these artists to have their voices heard once again and ensuring their legacies live on.
