The estate of Jan Lynch generously allowed me full access to Jan’s archive for his forthcoming book with S+M titled Polymorphous Perverse. The name is derived from his vandalized exhibition in Knoxville in 1993. I flew down to Nashville, where the archive is stored, and I wasn’t quite prepared for the magnitude and overall brilliance of the work. So happy to announce that one of our #rebelliousmisfits , #VelvetDAmour , from #SebastianandMelmoth, has been #nominated for #PhotographeroftheYear by #1839. Lately people have been proclaiming they were the very first to publish work on #plussizemodels, but that simply is not the case�. To say so is not only grossly #unfair but #unjust because Velvet has been working tirelessly her entire life promoting and publishing not only plus and plus plus size models but also all #women including those with #physicaldisabilities who people cruelly disregard with the false notion that these #women could never ever be interested in #fashion! Velvet without any financial backing has been #debunking that #myth by #publishing #VolUp2 for more than 13 years. A #magazine that #champions all women including those who are plus plus size, #burnvictims, #amputees, the #elderly, with Downs,…. #Photographing these women in such a #joyful and #celebratory way that you can’t help but notice how #happy and #comfortable they are in front of Velvet’s lens. Velvet has been doing this all on her own and oftentimes with scant recognition.
